Big Bang’s G-Dragon caught smoking marijuana

GD

It’s just been reported that Big Bang‘s leader G-Dragon has been caught by authorities for smoking marijuana.

We indicted G-Dragon on the charges of smoking marijuana,” said a representative for the Seoul police on October 5th.

According to investigators, G-Dragon had smoked marijuana sometime in the middle of May this year, and had taken a drug test in July. Although the results had come back negative with an initial urine test, further tests overturned that decision, and he had confessed at the time that he had been taking the drug at a Japanese club when he had visited the country for a concert.

“I smoked a cigarette that someone had given me at a club,” G-Dragon said. “The smell was somewhat different from that of a regular cigarette so I was slightly suspicious that it was marijuana, but it is true that I smoked it,” he said.

According to investigators, since the amount of marijuana was so small and G-Dragon had no prior offences, they decided to give him a warning.

Stay tuned to allkpop as the story unfolds.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

As previously reported, Big Bang's G-Dragon was caught out smoking marijuana. The star admitted to smoking it in a Japanese nightclub. Taking certain factors into consideration, including age, criminal motive, and remorse, it looks like he will get off with just a warning from the law, but will there be other repercussions?

It seems like YG Entertainment are taking the matter seriously. CEO Yang Hyun Suk gave a simple comment. “It’s a shock. We will make an official statement when everything has been verified.” But according to an insider, they have already started to make moves to find out what to do. According to a YG insider:

“There has been an emergency meeting. It appears necessary to change our plans for Big Bang as well as GD&TOP. G-Dragon is undergoing self-reflection as well.”

While YG deliberate what to do, opinion is that this scandal could affect GD&TOP promotions in Japan, his upcoming solo return, Big Bang as a group, and YG's stock standing on the KOSDAQ. For now, he has been let go with a warning from the police and YG will come to a decision on what to do soon.

But we're still yet to here lots of comments from fans so what do you think? Do you think this is no big deal and he is just being human or do you think he should be punished?

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

In the documents released to the press, YG Entertainment stated,

We would like to sincerely offer our deepest apologies to all the fans and to everyone who appreciates Big Bang’s music.

G-Dragon underwent an investigation for smoking marijuana last July. Because G-Dragon had never smoked marijuana, we cooperated with the investigation confidently and proceeded as usual with scheduled events. However, according to the hair strand test, G-Dragon tested positive for minuscule amounts of marijuana, which shocked us.

While we were contemplating what the reason could be, we thought of the event that occurred in May during their Japan tour. There was a drinking event to celebrate a successful concert with various Japanese associates who visited us at the concert location. When G-Dragon went to use the restroom, a young person who seemed to be a Japanese fan recognized G-Dragon and offered him a cigarette as he greeted him. Out of courtesy, G-Dragon took two or three puffs, but upon feeling that it was different from normal cigarettes, he flushed it down the toilet right away.

We thought it to be a trivial event, and soon we were unable to remember that it ever happened. However, when we began to ponder over the reason for this positive test, that night’s event returned as the likely cause.  We contacted the prosecution right away and related the event exactly as it happened.

Although there was no legal penalty issued, the guilty conscience and responsibility for causing everyone pain is a weight that G-Dragon and the company must now carry upon our shoulders, and it is heavier than any penalty.

As celebrities who have received a lot of interest from the public, and as a company who is supposed to thoroughly manage them, we sincerely regret the emergence of this situation, and have been self-reflecting on our carelessness. We deeply bow our heads as we apologize for causing you to worry once again, and we will try our best to make sure this type of event does not occur again.

I don't want to talk about this anymore. I am sick of some fans and so of haters. Go and fuck yourself. This is not a big deal for me.
If you say he have to be good boy because he is an idol and many kids look up at him, just use your brain. Will the kids jump out from the window if GD will do it??
STOP blame him, STOP trolling, STOP bitching around and just USE YOUR FUCKIN' BRAIN IF YOU HAVE ANY!!!!! >_<

I have argued on allkapop for 1-2 hours. Now I see there is too many idiotic people and it's wasting of time. I won't do it anymore.

I will mention just 2 things I was not able to handle (but after this there were much more idiots like this so that's why I have spent so much time on it)

this:
"GD aint fooling NOBODY with that story!
he used to be my bias, but i read lots of fan accounts....and they changed my mind about him.
so this coming out doesnt suprise me at all.
it just finalized my thoughts about him.
Hopefully he realizes one day that people look to him as a role model, and he grows the fuck up. "

I replied this:
so just because he's not how you want him to be you are like this? mabye it's YOU who should grow up....

and this:

"i dont wanna offend any1 but i think that he has taken more than just one smoke
i mean i liked GD but after this i dont really noe how to look at him and think of him as that person that didnt smoke marijuana
im sorry GD but i think u just lost a fan :(
it might not be true but i think im leaning towards the side that says '' HE'S GUILTY'' "

it makes me sick , I have cried after reading comments like this.....

and I have to say again:

to all of you:
VIPs and haters:

You really call yourself a fan? or VIP? okay, I agree with what was written ("As for VIPs who are leaving the fandom because of this — they’re also well within their rights to do so.") although I can't understand it I respect it. But please, just leave quietly and just never come back okay?!!!
In my eyes you are just stupid kids that don't know what the hell is marihuana. If you have never smoke it it makes you better?? F*ck yourself, idiots. That's not true! And he is not drug addict! He just did smoke marihuna! got it? (and for my oppinion it was not for first time, wake up, kids!). There is nothing bad about it! (if you don't do it every day, all day - that sucks).
Sorry for my rude speach, but I am really really angry right now. Your comments make me very sad and I cry now to see your reactions.
We should support GD ! Ji Yong Kwon is a good person and if you change your mind just because this stupid unimportant incident it's your choice - but it's stupid...

and one more thing:

Official Statement of T.O.P. Philippines

I know we’re all upset, guys, but let’s take this in perspective. G-Dragon made a mistake. He didn’t hurt anyone except perhaps himself and his reputation. Yes, he is looked up to by many fans, a lot of them are impressionable kids. However, it’s these kids’ parents whose job it is to raise them and teach them values, it’s not GD’s job. GD’s job is to make music and entertain us, and be true to the artist that he is.

Please don’t be vicious agains GD’s detractors. Marijuana use is a crime and so people are well within their rights to judge GD publicly for it. Don’t worry, he’s an adult, he can handle it. GD is a good guy who’s made mistakes, and he’s brave enough to take responsibility for his actions. What we can do is show our support and love for him.

Please don’t vent your anger towards the media outlets who published the news about this. That’s their job — to report the news. If they didn’t, they would’ve been betraying their mandate.

As for VIPs who are leaving the fandom because of this — they’re also well within their rights to do so. Be kind to them. VIP should not be a fandom that forces people to stay loyal even though their hearts are not in it. Ask yourself: are you in the fandom for the music, or are you in it for Big Bang’s popularity? If Big Bang became the least popular idol group in Korea, would you still call yourself a proud VIP? GD is taking some time for self-reflection — maybe we should do the same.

2011 has been both a good and a bad year for Big Bang and VIPs. But our boys are still together and making the music that we love. That should be enough for us to get through this.  So if you’re a fan, please show the world your support for G-Dragon. Write Beanpole and North Face and all the other companies GD and Big Bang endorse and tell them you will still buy their stuff despite the scandal. Write the tv stations and tell them you still want to see all the Big Bang members on their shows. If YGEnt’s stocks are falling, then think of it as a good time to buy some shares. Let the haters do what they feel they must do, and don’t respond with hate. In the end, it’s kindness and respect that will make the world a better place.

I don't hate anyone. I believe we should not hate on people. But I hate my haters, obviously.
